At the 2008 Celebration of Leadership and Involvement ceremony on April 23 in the Old Main Lounge of the SIUC Student Center, the Beta Chi Chapter of TKE was recognized as the The Outstanding Registered Student Organization (RSO) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. This award recognizes “outstanding contributions and commitment to SIUC and the Carbondale community.” Southern Illinois University Carbondale has nearly 500 registered student organizations touching nearly 10,000 students.

The Chapter was nominated by Dr. Phil Anton (Kinesiology), Board of Advisors Treasurer Dexter Baber as well as Bill Bruns, Chapter Advisor. Their recommendation letters are posted with permission in PDF format.

Dan Sepulveda, Prytanis of TKE, was nominated for The Outstanding RSO Officer Award for 2008, but was narrowly edged out by Janel Spaulding of the Geography Club. Dan also served as Vice President of TKE, President and Vice President of the Interfraternity Council, and the Vice President of the Order of Omega over the past twelve months.

Chapter Advisor, Bill Bruns, was also recognized as The Outstanding RSO Advisor for 2008. Bill humbly adds this award to his 2006 Volunteer of the Year award from the Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity and the 2006-2007 Advisor of the Year Award from SIUC’s Inter Greek Council.
